Wilma practised for more than 10 years Kundalini. In 2006 she graduated from yoga school Jip & Jan and became a children’s -yoga teacher. Wilma developed her own yoga -style for children, she calling it JUNGLE -YOGA. In her yoga classes she uses a lot of fantasy and the asana’s (yoga postures) who related to animals (tiger, cobra, cat etc). The idea of imitating the animals and exploring the jungle, makes yoga much more appealing for the children. She’s convinced that the thing that matters most in children's yoga is that the children are enjoying themselves. Wilma: ‘ As one relaxes one becomes naturally at peace with one's self. Because of that, one concentrates better and feels more comfortable in one's own body ’. Wilma is giving JUNGLE-YOGA workshops at schools and on location. In her opinion yoga can be done everywhere as long as there is motivation and a open mind. In 2007 Wilma offered JUNGLE -YOGA workshops to tsunami -victims at primary schools In Banda Aceh ( Sumatra). After this intense experience Wilma made the documentary ‘ Syawal was very scared ‘. The film is about a boy SYAWAL (12) who she met at her yoga workshop. With the help of his drawings SYAWAL tells the compelling story how he survived the tsunami. The film is broadcasted on Dutch Public Television and has been awarded and selected for the film festivals of Taipei, New York, Prague, Montevideo, Bratislava, Washington, Copenhagen, and Seoul.
